The Devil's Queen - A novel of Catherine de 'Medici by Jeanne Kalogridis

"The Devil's Queen: A Novel of Catherine de 'Medici, the first book I read by Jeanne Kalogridis. I usually can not normally read historical novels. My usual fare is Science Fiction Fantasy, paranormal, urban fantasy, thriller and psychological tension. I read "The Count of Saint-Germain series by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. His books contain a wealth of historical details, the old days of life. Of course, the hero of a fourThousand year old vampire. The protagonist of "Queen of the devil" is a real person. But their story is so fascinating, I had completely absorbed.

Catherine was a spoiled child, entered an arranged marriage with Henry, the heir to the throne of France. They were both fourteen years at the time. Although Catherine was loved and supported her husband, King Henry II, took a mistress, the beautiful Diane de Poitiers. Catherine turned to witchcraft to her husband love to win and improveits fertility, could lead the heirs to the throne. He went to Cosimo Ruggieri, medieval astrologer and psychic. He convinced her to part of St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre of French Protestants game, to ensure their children would inherit what legally authorized.

Kalogridis novel 'is well researched and very entertaining. Raises a favorable light on Catherine, who is usually portrayed as vicious and prose brought Catherine de 'Medici, for the life of me. Betrayalpolitical intrigue and vivid descriptions of the French Renaissance court were all fascinated. And as a reader, the supernatural, I was particularly Caterina enjoys the introduction of occult interest. After that I appreciated the book is intended to seek the authors previous books, "I, Mona Lisa and The Borgia Bride". the later books the author is definitely on my "to read" list. historical fiction list has moved a notch on my favorite genre.
