Rush is a Canadian rock band formed in August 1968, made in the neighborhood of Willowdale Toronto, Ontario, bassist, keyboardist and vocalist Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, guitarist and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. The group and its members went through a series of re-configuration of 1968-1974, reaching its present form, as Peart replaced original drummer John Rutsey in July 1974, two weeks before the group its first U.S. tour . After the publication ofBand self-titled debut album in March 1974, Rush has become known for the strong instrumental abilities of its members, complex compositions and eclectic lyrical motifs drawing on science fiction, fantasy, and libertarian philosophy, as well as humanitarian concerns, social, emotional and environmental . Musically, Rush-style has evolved over the years, starting in the style of blues-inspired heavy metal on their first album, includes Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, and aPeriod dominated by synthesizers. They have different musical artists, including the influence of Metallica and The Smashing Pumpkins, and progressive metal bands like Dream Theater, Primus, and Symphony X.
